■COMMENT
1960年代後半〜1970年代初頭にかけて、ベトナム戦争に従軍した米兵たちが記念品としてオーダーした通称「ベトジャン」を、モチーフに再構築した一着。ベトジャンは米軍の正式支給品ではなく、現地のテーラーで私物として作られた背景を持ち、刺繍には所属や土地の記憶、そして当時の感情が刻まれている。戦地での着用というより、基地内のオフタイムや外出時、帰国時に身に着けられ、役目を終えた後は反骨の象徴として愛されてきた。BOWWOWでは、その流れを踏まえ、文化と感情が宿る着古されたスーベニアジャケットとしての経年変化表現を加えてプロダクトへ昇華。日本製。

This piece is a reimagined take on the so-called “Viet-Jacket,” a garment ordered as a memento by U.S. soldiers serving in the Vietnam War from the late 1960s to early 1970s. The Viet-Jacket was not an official U.S. military issue item; it was made locally by tailors as personal clothing. Its embroidery captures memories of units, places, and the emotions of that era. Rather than being worn in combat, they were typically donned during off-duty hours on base, for outings, or upon returning home. After fulfilling their purpose, they became cherished as symbols of rebellion. BOWWOW, drawing on this history, elevates the product by incorporating the aged patina of a well-worn souvenir jacket imbued with culture and emotion. Made in Japan.
